The original Metroid was released in Japan on August 6, 1986, as a Famicom Disk System title. It was published by Nintendo. Players explore planet Zebes and destroy Mother Brain, and the game is regarded as a forerunner of exploration-based action games. The ending changes depending on the player’s completion time, and the game is also known for a feature in which Samus Aran’s suit comes off the faster the player clears it. The latest entry in the series is Metroid Dread (2021). In the Metroid Prime line, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was released on December 4, 2025.

GAME FREAK’s New Title to Get a Fix Patch After Launch Complaints
GAME FREAK inc. announced that a patch for its new game, Beast of Reincarnation, is expected within about a week. The game has around 1,600 user reviews on Steam, with only 53% positive. Complaints have centered on “the camera is too close during lock-on, causing poor visibility,” “the subtitles are small and their size cannot be adjusted,” and “the story’s pacing” (translated from Japanese). The developer says the next patch will adjust the camera, increase the text size, and improve the story’s pacing.

EVERYBODY’S GOLF HOT SHOTS Announces October and December Improvement Plans
The development and operations team behind EVERYBODY’S GOLF HOT SHOTS announced plans for improvement updates scheduled for October and December. The game has around 1,000 user reviews on Steam, of which 60% are positive. The overall review label is Mixed. On the PlayStation Store, it has around 2,000 reviews and a rating of 2.73/5.0. The October update is planned to ease character unlock conditions, revise the number of characters unlocked from the start, shorten CPU thinking time, improve Nintendo Switch performance, and fix online sync lag, while the December update will add items to help with character training. A new survey is also being conducted from August 5 to 19, 2026.

Bank Refuses to Accept Adult Dōjin Game’s Steam Earnings
Nupuryu, an adult dōjin game developer, announced that Rakuten Bank had rejected a deposit of revenue from Steam sales. According to Nupuryu, although the requested documents had been submitted, the bank refused to accept the payment without explaining why. Nupuryu’s best-known work is Yarimono, which topped DLsite’s dōjin game rankings. Sales on Steam had surpassed 200,000 units as of July 2025. In April 2026, a similar case occurred involving Night of The Black Goat and Resona Bank.

SEGA’s All-New STRANGER THAN HEAVEN Reveals TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 Exhibit Details
STRANGER THAN HEAVEN, an all-new title from SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, has announced its exhibit plans for TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 (September 17 to 21, 2026, at Makuhari Messe). Alongside a playable demo booth and merchandise sales, the exhibit will include a walkthrough-style museum display and daily special stage presentations, and will screen footage of an unreleased track featuring singer Ado, among others. The game launches on January 15, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
