1985 Pinball Game PINBALL ACTION Released on Four Platforms as the First “Arcade Archives 2” Title

HAMSTER Corporation released PINBALL ACTION on August 13, 2026, Japan time. It’s the first entry in the new “Arcade Archives 2” series. The original game was put out in 1985 by TEHKAN, now Koei Tecmo Games. Players move between four different tables, using table-shaking techniques to control the ball and aim to clear each table’s features. The release includes HI SCORE MODE, TIME ATTACK MODE, and CARAVAN MODE, which lets players compete with others worldwide for high scores in online rankings. Rewind and other assist features have also been added. It’s available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Xbox Play Anywhere).

Pixel-Art Monster-Collecting RPG Dokimon Quest Set to Be Free for 48 Hours on Steam

Yano, the developer of the pixel-art monster-collecting RPG Dokimon Quest, announced that the game will be available free on Steam for 48 hours starting August 25, 2026, Japan time. Development and publishing are handled by Yanako RPGs. The game features more than 140 kinds of monsters, and completing the story is expected to take 15 to 20 hours. The game has around 400 user reviews on Steam, 74% of which are positive. According to AUTOMATON, the goal of the free giveaway is to gather feedback for the development of Yami Kids, a new title scheduled for release in September. The outlet also reports that a separate new Dokimon Quest title is planned for 2027.

Indie Game Exhibition Tokyo Game Dungeon 14 Set for October 31

A Japanese indie game exhibition, Tokyo Game Dungeon 14, was announced for October 31, 2026. The venue is the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center HAMAMATSUCHO-KAN. There are 270 exhibitor slots in total — 100 for first-time exhibitors and 170 standard slots. Applications to exhibit open on Eventory at 8:00 p.m. Japan time on August 21 and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no screening of entries. According to the official site, anyone residing in Japan is eligible to apply, and minors need a parent or guardian’s consent. General admission tickets are scheduled to go on sale September 30. Iwasaki Narufumi, a game developer, has run the event since its first edition in 2022. In 2025, it also expanded to the Kansai region.
