On August 17, 2026, SNK announced that Duck King will join the fighting game FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves on August 27 as the second DLC character in Season Pass 3. Duck King is a professional dancer and fighter who has appeared in the Fatal Fury series since its first installment in 1991. This marks his first appearance in a fighting game since THE KING OF FIGHTERS XI in 2005, a gap of 21 years.

Applications Open for TSURUGIHIME Closed Battle Beta Test, Limited to 100 Players Worldwide

On August 17, 2026, Fahrenheit 213 announced a closed battle beta test for TSURUGIHIME, an action RPG currently in development. This will be the first opportunity for players to try the game. The beta is open to 100 participants worldwide, with applications accepted from August 17 to August 23 and the test running from August 25 to September 6. TSURUGIHIME is the first game by Yosuke Shiokawa since Shiokawa went independent. Shiokawa served as creative producer on the smartphone app “Fate/Grand Order.”

Mega Man x hololive GAMERS Collaboration Kicks Off August 22

On August 17, 2026, Capcom announced a collaboration between Mega Man and hololive GAMERS, a unit of the VTuber group “hololive” operated by COVER Corporation. The four members taking part are Shirakami Fubuki, Ookami Mio, Nekomata Okayu, and Inugami Korone. Starting August 22, 7 prize items and 4 merchandise items will roll out at Capcom-operated amusement facilities, through the online crane game “Kaputore,” and at 8 CAPCOM STORE locations, among other outlets. In Taiwan, the items are planned to go on sale at CAPCOM STORE TAIPEI around late November 2026.

South Korea’s Oh! Robot: Legendary Mechanic Comes From a Former Manga Artist

A demo of Oh! Robot: Legendary Mechanic, a South Korean top-down shooter, is available on Steam. It is developed by Garage Arts, a one-person company run by Park Kyung-wook, who is developing the game alone. Park Kyung-wook is a former manga artist whose work was once serialized in a Korean weekly boys’ manga magazine. Park Kyung-wook also worked on mechanical design and prop-making for the 1999 film Yonggary. In the game, a girl named Judy pilots the sentient robot ZeroBot as she battles a rampaging army of AI robots. At the Korean indie game event “Busan Indie Connect Festival 2026” (BIC 2026), held in Busan, South Korea, Park Kyung-wook spoke about the background of the game. Early access is planned for the first half of 2027.
