Future Knight, a 2D shooter made by a Spanish studio, launched on August 13, 2026, Japan time (August 12 in North America). The developer, Studio Koba, lists a contact address for Japanese-language inquiries only on its official website.
Players control two characters: the robot Future Knight and its companion Two More, a benign tumor that has formed on Future Knight’s body. Players switch between the pair in combat. The setting is a world with only eight hours left before humanity’s extinction, and the goal is to stop The Lady of the Past, a cult leader bent on destroying civilization. The visuals evoke 1980s LCD handheld games, and AUTOMATON described the game as a “‘buttery-smooth LCD-style’ cult-eradication action game” (translated from Japanese).
Development was handled by two companies, Studio Koba and Aeternum Game Studios, with Aeternum Game Studios serving as publisher. Aeternum Game Studios appears in both the developer and publisher fields on Steam. Denfaminicogamer reported that the game is a collaboration between two Spanish studios. Studio Koba is also the studio behind Narita Boy.
Studio Koba’s official website explicitly lists [email protected] as a contact address dedicated to inquiries in Japanese. In addition to the studio’s official account (@studiokobaGAME), a separate account for Japan-facing outreach (@Chie_Kiki21) serves as a point of contact. AUTOMATON wrote that founder Eduardo Fornieles divides his time between Spain and Japan, and that the studio’s games often incorporate Japanese elements.
The studio’s next game is Haneda Girl, teased on its official website. Haneda is a place name in Tokyo. As with Narita in the earlier title Narita Boy, Studio Koba continues to use Japanese place names in its game titles.
The game is available on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It supports 10 languages, including Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese. Denfaminicogamer reported that Japanese support is planned for the UI and subtitles.
