On August 1, 2026 (Japan time), MECCHA CHAMELEON received an official collaboration map with The Exit 8.
The map was added in update 3.5.0, released the same day by developer LEMORION (@lemorion1224). The map is named after its collaboration partner: “Exit 8.” The same update also added a feature to search for friends’ servers, along with UI improvements.
MECCHA CHAMELEON is an online hide-and-seek game in which players paint their all-white bodies to blend into the surrounding background and objects. The new map is themed around the underground passage familiar from The Exit 8, and it includes horror elements. Alongside the normal corridor area, there is also an area where everything has descended into chaos. Players camouflage themselves against the background and objects in a way that evokes The Exit 8’s “anomalies,” hiding so they won’t be found.
LEMORION teased this collaboration on July 28 (Japan time). The teaser post used wording that parodied the in-game message from The Exit 8, “Don’t overlook any anomalies.”
What must not be overlooked has been swapped from anomalies to chameleons. In the post made on the day the map went live, LEMORION announced that the official collaboration map had been added. However, it remains unclear whether the map is available for a limited time or will stay permanently.
MECCHA CHAMELEON had sold 15 million units as of July 5 (Japan time), according to LEMORION. It could not be confirmed whether any more recent figures have been announced since then. The only confirmed platform is PC (Steam); whether console versions exist is unknown. The Exit 8, meanwhile, was developed by KOTAKE CREATE and published by PLAYISM. It is a game set in an underground passage, in which players are told, “Don’t overlook any anomalies.”
