Switch between a girl and the Mayor to revive a fading hot spring town. China-based Revive! Onsen Town! gets a new Steam demo, adding rice paddies and ranching

There are two ways to revive a fading hot spring town. As a girl visiting for summer vacation, catch bugs and fish for spare change. Or, as the Mayor, take on residents’ requests and repair the town’s roads and facilities. Revive! Onsen Town! is a management sim that lets players switch between the two whenever they like.

China-based developer 饼饼 Studio and publisher HARRISONWORLD CO.,LTD released a new demo of the game on Steam on September 9, 2026. The demo is free and available for a limited time, running through October 8, 2026.

The game is set in Onsen Town, a fading hot spring town in rural Japan. While playing as Kyoko, players earn money day to day by catching bugs, fishing, farming, and helping out at restaurants. At night, a night market opens where players can join in on minigames.

Switching to the Mayor’s perspective changes what players can do. The town bulletin board is covered in requests from residents, and taking them on builds up the town’s infrastructure and keeps its facilities running. The Mayor can also promote the town on social media and drive cars around.

This demo adds an affinity system in which relationships change as players get to know residents better. There are more farming options, too: rice paddies have been added alongside the existing fields, allowing players to manage water quality while growing rice, and a ranch lets players keep livestock. Getting around is easier as well, thanks to fast travel across the map and a guide feature that points players to their next destination.

A new substory has also been added. In it, Kyoko visits a friend’s house and goes through the full process of picking flowers and using them for alchemy.

The game was first unveiled in May 2026 at BitSummit, an indie game festival held in Kyoto, and has undergone multiple rounds of playtesting since. Activities such as catching bugs, fishing, working part-time, cooking, and helping residents gradually change the look of the town, and restoring its vitality is the player’s goal.

An official release date has not been set yet. For now, this demo, available through October 8, is the only way to play.
