TAITO CORPORATION announced on August 20, 2026, that it has released BUBBLE BOBBLE Sugar Dungeons Boosted, the newest entry in the BUBBLE BOBBLE action game series, for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. Players who already own the Steam version of BUBBLE BOBBLE Sugar Dungeons, released on November 27, 2025, will receive Boosted as a free major update on the same day.
The highlight of Boosted is that Bob, Bub’s twin, joins the game as a helper for the first time. From Bob’s Room, located within the dungeon, players can choose one of three Bonus Gates: the Item Room, where treasure chests and items can be found; the Combo Room, where defeating enemies in succession builds up combos; and the Skip Gate, which lets players skip ahead through floors. Bubble Symphony, originally released as an arcade game in 1994 and ported to home consoles in 1997, is also included.
Producer Tomohito Oka spoke about the response to the previous title in an interview with Famitsu. He said that the dungeon and castle mechanics newly introduced by the team received quite high praise.
After we released Sugar Dungeons, we heard all kinds of feedback from our players. Starting with the positive side, the dungeon and castle mechanics we took on this time received quite high praise. (translated from Japanese)
Language support is broad. The Japanese versions of the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 releases support Japanese and English. The Steam version additionally supports French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
BUBBLE BOBBLE began with its arcade release in September 1986 and marks its 40th anniversary in 2026. The series has also spawned the spin-off Puzzle Bobble.
