Solo developer NOENOE GAMES will release the grid-based boss-rush action game GRID/ on Steam on September 15, 2026, Japan time. A free demo is already available.

Players take on the role of what the game calls the “youngest Visual Debugger,” fighting Bug Entities on a 7x6 grid. Before an enemy attack lands, the square it will hit flashes red as a warning. Players switch between three types of weapons. Each weapon has a special move that consumes the ULT gauge, and the full version is planned to include nine bosses in total.

This system grew out of the developer’s own struggles with games. According to AUTOMATON, the developer loves action games but isn’t good at games in general, and found that titles built around positioning, like Mega Man Battle Network, were ones he could actually play well. In comments to gamebiz, NOENOE GAMES (@noenoe_games) said, “I love action games, but I’ve honestly always been bad at games in general…” (translated from Japanese), explaining that this memory led to a system combining fast-paced action with grid-based positioning.

In terms of length, the developer is reportedly aiming for “a game you can feel satisfied with in a short time,” with no unnecessary padding.

The demo is available for free on Steam now, and the full release will also be PC-only. Text, voice, and subtitles all support Japanese and English. On the store page, the developer notes that AI-assisted translation was used for parts of the store page and in-game text. The release date is September 15, 2026, Japan time, but the Steam store page lists it as September 14. For now, the only thing overseas readers can try is the demo, with the full release to follow in September.
