Metaphor: ReFantazio, ATLUS’s fantasy RPG about a kingdom where the people choose the king, now has a Prologue Demo on Nintendo Switch 2. It runs through the first four dungeons. Your progress carries over to the full game, out November 12.

The demo covers the start of the journey to lift a curse placed on the prince. You can unlock seven of the 40+ classes called Archetypes and meet six companions, including some who join your party later. You can replay it as often as you like.

Combat is turn-based with real-time action mixed in. You awaken Archetype powers and rearrange your party lineup as you fight.

The king has been assassinated, and the people will choose his successor. By day, you take quests, dive into dungeons and hunt for treasure. By night, you build bonds with people across a divided kingdom and raise your virtues. A vehicle called a gauntlet runner carries you to distant dungeons and towns. How you spend each day is up to you.

Metaphor: ReFantazio won Best Role-Playing Game, Best Narrative and Best Art Direction at The Game Awards 2024, and it sold 1 million copies on its first day, making it the fastest-selling title in ATLUS history. It is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam.

Seven Archetypes and four dungeons should be enough to tell, before launch, whether its party-shuffling combat suits you.
