Monster Hunter Rise has reached 20 million in cumulative sales, Capcom announced on X. It is the second Capcom title to pass 20 million, after Monster Hunter: World. Rise is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

World, which launched in January 2018, stood at 22.4 million as of June 30, 2026. Rise was at 19.3 million at that point and crossed 20 million a little over three months later. The milestone comes about five and a half years after the game launched on Nintendo Switch in 2021. It reached PC via Steam in January 2022, then PlayStation and Xbox in January 2023, launching on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass the same day.

You play as a Hunter, exploring fields and hunting monsters with one of 14 weapon types. Two systems expand your options on the hunt: the Wirebug and Wyvern Riding. The Wirebug lets you move through the air, and Wyvern Riding lets you mount a monster and control it.

You can work through the story solo or head out on hunts online with up to four players. You can bring a canine companion, the Palamute, on hunts. It helps you fight, and riding it gets you across the field quickly.

Beyond the base game sits Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the major expansion released in June 2022. Hunters advance to Master Rank and take on new threats such as Malzeno in a new kingdom. Sunbreak had sold 11.9 million as of June 30. World’s major expansion, released in September 2019, stood at 16.7 million at the same point.

With 14 weapon types, Wirebug movement on top of them, and up to four Hunters on the same monster, each group is likely to end up mixing its own blend of playstyles.
