A Joy-Con 2 in your hand becomes a racket, a bow, or a set of handlebars. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is a sports game set on Wuhu Island, a resort island, with the Joy-Con 2 standing in for your equipment across 12 sports. It’s out October 22, 2026, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
In Boxing, you throw punches, block with your guard, and counter. In Golf, how hard you swing is how hard you hit. In Bowling, how you swing decides whether the ball goes straight or curves. In Power Cruising, you steer by tilting the Joy-Con 2 as if it were handlebars, and in Prop Plane the Joy-Con 2 itself is the aircraft, and you fly it freely.
Skateboarding is played by using the Joy-Con 2 like a mouse, and it also lets you roam Wuhu Island freely. Joy-Con from the original Nintendo Switch can be connected and used too, except in Skateboarding.
The remaining sports are Tennis, Archery, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, and Thumb Wrestling. Jump Rope is there as a warm-up.
You play as one of the ready-made Sportsmate characters or as your own Mii. A single console supports up to four players. The game works in TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. Online play supports up to 16 players, and the friends-only Friend Lobby supports up to 8. There is also a ranked Pro League where you compete with players around the world. Playing online requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and GameChat video requires a compatible USB camera.
With the Joy-Con 2, you throw punches, curve the ball, and fly the plane. The same controller should carry you between sports that each ask for a different motion.
