Switch Sports Resort Debuts at No. 1 in Japan

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort took first place in Japan’s weekly sales. It sold 64,632 copies in its launch week. Right behind it, at Nos. 2 through 4, are three versions of FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE, an HD-2D title that came out the same week.

The figures are estimated unit sales that Japanese gaming outlet Famitsu compiles in-house, covering October 19 to 25, 2026.

The top seller is a Nintendo Switch 2 game and the latest entry in the series of motion-controlled sports games that began with Wii Sports. Set on a resort island, it includes 12 sports.

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE took No. 2 on Nintendo Switch 2 with 52,268 copies, No. 3 on PlayStation 5 with 50,452, and No. 4 on Nintendo Switch with 30,471. The three versions add up to 133,191 copies, about double the top seller’s total.

Two other titles are new entries. At No. 5 is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on PlayStation 5, with 12,816 copies. At No. 7, ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet on Nintendo Switch 2 came in with 5,631 copies. In it, you run a seaside restaurant with the Straw Hat Crew.

The remaining four were already on the chart the week before, and three of them have passed 1 million copies in Japan. The largest total belongs to No. 10 Mario Kart World (Nintendo Switch 2), at 3,054,094 copies, up from No. 13 the previous week. No. 6 Rhythm Heaven Groove (Nintendo Switch) fell from No. 4 the previous week and stands at 1,103,098 in total. No. 8 Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (Nintendo Switch) is the third million-seller, and No. 9 Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave (Nintendo Switch 2) rounds out the list.

On the hardware side, Nintendo Switch 2 sold the most at 21,792 units, bringing its total in Japan to 6,452,619. PlayStation 5 Digital Edition came next at 15,640 units.
