Game streamer shu3 (@shu33333) launched the puzzle adventure game The Death Game Report on Steam at 18:00 Japan time on September 1, 2026 (2:00 AM Pacific Time in North America that same day).
The player’s task is to restore the complete records of a “death game” that took place on a deserted island and compile them into a single report. All the player has is a single aging device; while repairing the damaged records, they cross-reference clues such as the “student roster” and the “island map” with the final words left by the dead. Three things must be identified for each participant: the cause of death, the murder weapon, and the perpetrator.
When three correct reports are combined, one record becomes “confirmed,” and each confirmation reveals the outline of the next death. The truth about one victim’s death becomes a clue to solving the next victim’s death. The estimated completion time is 4-5 hours, and a hint feature is available for players who get stuck.
At the time of the announcement on August 16, 2026, shu3 reportedly described the game’s feel as a mix of Return of the Obra Dinn and Type Help, and commented that fans of Return of the Obra Dinn in particular should give this one a try.
shu3 is a game streamer with around 500,000 subscribers on YouTube, and is also a member of the four-person commentary group Napoli no Otokotachi (@napolimens). shu3 is known for completionist videos of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as well as a series of videos that test how a game’s mechanics actually work through hands-on experiments.
This is shu3’s second solo-developed game. The first was Come out, cat, a horror game released for free on Steam on August 25, 2025; as of August 16, 2026, it had a 98% positive rating from 217 reviews, and as of the following day, August 17, a 97% positive rating from 583 reviews.
The Death Game Report is available only on PC via Steam. It requires Windows 10 64-bit or later, and no demo is available. The interface, subtitles, and audio are available only in Japanese, with full voice acting; the game does not support English.
