Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Peaks at About 15,000 Concurrent Steam Players — A New Nihon Falcom Record, Topping Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter by About 1,000

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter’s concurrent player count on Steam peaked at about 15,000, the highest figure any Nihon Falcom (Nihon Falcom Corporation) title has reached on the platform, according to SteamDB. The previous record belonged to Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, and 2nd Chapter topped it by about 1,000 players.

The game launched worldwide on September 17 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam). GungHo Online Entertainment America, Inc. is the publisher and also handles publishing in Western Europe. According to its Steam store page, both English and Japanese are fully voiced.

The title is the second full remake in the series, based on The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. The original’s English version has been available on Steam since October 2015, and this release rebuilds the original game from the ground up. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter launched on Steam in September 2025, putting almost exactly a year between the two releases.

Players control series protagonist Estelle Bright. She’s searching for her missing younger adoptive brother, Joshua Bright, while pursuing Ouroboros, a secret society whose true identity remains unknown.

Combat shifts seamlessly between two styles: the real-time Quick Battle, where players clash with enemies directly on the field, and the turn-based Command Battle, where actions are planned out. Characters grow by fitting Quartz into their individual Tactical Orbment; doing so raises their stats and teaches Orbal Arts, the setting’s system of magic. Side activities such as cooking and fishing are also available.

As of September 21, Steam’s roughly 610 user reviews were 96% positive, giving the game an “Overwhelmingly Positive” status. On the PlayStation Store, 95% of about 1,400 ratings were five stars, for an average of 4.87.

A demo is also available, covering the prologue through Chapter 1, or about 10 hours of play. Save data from the demo carries over to the full game, so players who buy it can continue where they left off.
