The Trails series has passed 10 million copies sold, Nihon Falcom Corporation announced on October 7. Both Trails in the Sky remakes came out over the two years it took to get there from 8 million. The second remake, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, launched worldwide on September 17. It runs on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

The series began in 2004 with The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, a PC release. The two remakes—Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, released in September 2025, and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter—rebuild the series’ opening story. 2nd Chapter arrived a year after 1st Chapter, so the full opening story can now be played back to back. The series passed 8 million in 2024 and has added 2 million since.

Combat is turn-based. Magic comes as Arts, cast through a device called an orbment. In Quick Battles, Brave Rush, new in 2nd Chapter, lets you chain allies’ attacks. The game is fully voiced in English and Japanese.

There are detours outside combat, too: dropping a fishing line, sitting down at a poker table, cooking. A demo is available on Steam.

GungHo Online Entertainment America and Clouded Leopard Entertainment publish alongside Nihon Falcom. Editions include the standard version and a Digital Deluxe Edition with a Season Pass of cosmetic and quality-of-life DLC.

Brave Rush looks built for fights where one ally’s attack sets up the next. Fishing, poker, and cooking should give the story some room to breathe.
