ACE COMBAT 8 Debuts at No. 1 in Japan With 60,000+ Copies

In its launch week, ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE sold 63,013 copies in Japan and took the top spot on the weekly sales chart.

Worldwide, the number is a lot bigger. Bandai Namco Entertainment says the game has shipped over 1 million copies in about a week since launch. That figure counts shipments, not sales. Steam concurrent players also topped 52,000 after launch, according to SteamDB.

The Japan numbers are weekly sales estimates from Japanese game magazine Famitsu, covering September 28 to October 4, 2026. The version on the chart is the PlayStation 5 release; the game is also out on Steam.

You fly a fighter jet and shoot down enemy aircraft and take out targets, with each mission setting its own objectives and time limit. It supports English audio and subtitles.

DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered debuted twice in the top 10: 2nd on PlayStation 5 (18,724 copies) and 6th on Nintendo Switch 2 (11,684), for 30,408 combined. It supports English audio.

Two earlier Nintendo releases held 3rd and 4th. At No. 3, Rhythm Heaven Groove (Nintendo Switch) reached a cumulative 1,065,816 copies sold in Japan in its 14th week. At No. 4, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave (Nintendo Switch 2) hit a cumulative 166,646 copies in Japan in 18 days.

The other new entries are Minecraft Dungeons II at No. 5 and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition at No. 8. In all, five new entries (four titles) made this week’s top 10. On the hardware side, Nintendo Switch 2 led with 26,200 units.
