Boungeon is a deck-building roguelike whose battles look like a block-breaking game. Players bounce magic bolts off walls and enemies to defeat the monsters in the dungeon.
Block-breaking is a classic action-game genre in which a bouncing ball smashes blocks. Boungeon brings that same bouncing motion into dungeon combat. Attacks work by firing a magic bolt and letting it ricochet: the bolt changes direction when it hits a wall or an enemy, dealing damage to whatever it strikes. Players customize their own setups by giving bolts elemental properties and combining skills. Layered on top of the underlying deck-building progression is a physics-based element: where the bolt will bounce next.
Developer LAININ STUDIO describes the game as a deck-building roguelike (roguelite) that borrows the feel of a block-breaker. At its core is gameplay built around taking on the dungeon with bouncing magic bolts.
LAININ STUDIO is a Japanese game development group that has previously made board games. Its two titles, 賭ケモノ and Greed Dungeon, are both tabletop games played in person. Boungeon marks the circle’s first digital game. The first post about its development appeared on January 24, 2026. LAININ STUDIO is handling both development and publishing itself.
The game is planned for PC (Steam), with a release targeted for 2027. As of August 2026, it cannot yet be purchased on Steam; players can only add it to their wishlists to be notified when it launches. Japanese and English are supported for the interface, voice acting, and subtitles. English-speaking readers are expected to be able to play in English as soon as it releases.
