On September 1, 2026, Capcom announced the first wave of details about its TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 exhibits. The major expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will be playable for the first time anywhere in the world.
The demo consists of three types of quests. The first has players hunt an unknown flying monster in a new field, the floating ruins area called The Skybound Eyrie. The second involves taking down one of the returning elder dragons in this title. The third is a beginner-friendly Chatacabra hunt that includes a tutorial. Players can try the new Boost Bracer feature in all three.
Which elder dragon is returning has not yet been revealed. The target monster will be announced during the online program Capcom Spotlight: Tokyo Game Show 2026, streaming from 23:00 JST on September 16 (10:00 a.m. ET the same day).
There are other playable stations as well. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen and Mega Man: Dual Override will each get their first playable demo in Japan. For the former, players choose from three scenarios: encountering the Fallen Dragon in the new area Norgan, fighting an ice dragon in that same snowy region, or hunting a Griffin in the main story area, with up to six vocations to choose from. For the latter, players control Mega Man through Stages 1 to 3 of Twinkle Girl, with the new Override system at the center of the experience.
Some demos come with conditions attached. Capcom will select CAPCOM ID members by lottery for a Priority Play session that guarantees a demo slot. It covers Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance and Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, running each day from 10:30 to 15:30 between September 19 and 21, with applications open until 13:00 JST on September 9. Only people living in Japan can apply, and participants are required to share their impressions afterward on social media and elsewhere.
Playing the Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo requires an ID check beforehand, and only visitors aged 18 and up can play. The same condition applies to a shooting range created through a collaboration between airsoft gun maker Tokyo Marui and Resident Evil; visitors are also prohibited from entering the range with children.
PRAGMATA will also be playable. Monster Hunter Outlanders lets visitors explore a newly revealed field and hunt a new monster. Details on the second wave of exhibits will be announced soon.
