A remaster of Terranigma, the 1995 action RPG, has been announced 31 years later. In TEKKEN 8, the Season 3 additional character Bob has now been released to all players.
Terranigma Remaster Set for 2027, With Key QUINTET Staff Taking Part
A remaster has been announced for Terranigma, the action RPG developed by QUINTET and released by Enix in October 1995. Clear River Games is handling development, with SQUARE ENIX providing the license. Key staff from the original version are taking part as well. It is planned for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam / GOG.com), Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The original game was never officially released in North America and came out only in Europe. Character design advisor Kamui Fujiwara commented that the day has come when a game from 30 years ago can be experienced once again.

TEKKEN 8 Season 3 Additional Character Bob Released to All Players
Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. released Bob, the second additional playable character for TEKKEN 8 Season 3, to all players on August 25, 2026. Bob is said to be designed so that players can build a strong offense simply by throwing out his main moves. His addition also brings a new story in which he appears as an investigator pursuing Kazuya Mishima, as well as dedicated dialogue exchanges between Bob and Kazuya Mishima. The gameplay trailer for Roger Jr., the third character of Season 3, is scheduled to be shown at Evo France in October 2026.

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6.2 INVADERS FROM ANOTHER WORLD Arrives in 2027, With Roughly Twice as Many Enemies at Once as 6
D3PUBLISHER has announced EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6.2 INVADERS FROM ANOTHER WORLD, a PlayStation 5-exclusive 3D action shooter developed by SANDLOT, for release in 2027. It is a substantially overhauled version of EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6, released in 2022, and the maximum number of on-screen enemies is roughly double that in EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6. Weapon customization is being introduced for the first time in the series, letting players modify weapons to fire incendiary or freezing rounds. The game will be playable at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026, which runs from September 17 to 21. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6 has reached 1 million users worldwide.

ANANTA Launches Worldwide on January 15, 2027, With 17 Million Pre-Registrations
ANANTA, a free-to-play urban open-world RPG developed by NetEase Games and Naked Rain, will launch simultaneously worldwide on January 15, 2027. The announcement was made at gamescom Opening Night Live in the early hours of August 26, 2026, Japan time. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and mobile. Pre-registrations have surpassed 17 million across 110 countries and regions. The game comes from China, and its story is set in two contemporary Asian cities: Nova City and 重霄, the latter revealed for the first time in the newest story trailer.

Crimson Desert Gets Free Major Update “Crimson Desert Enhanced,” Adding Japanese Voice Acting
Crimson Desert Enhanced, a free major update for Crimson Desert, the open-world RPG developed by Pearl Abyss Corp., was released to coincide with gamescom Opening Night Live. Japanese voice acting has been added, bringing the number of languages with voice-over support to five. The skill acquisition system, which uses a new currency called アビスの結束, has also been reworked. The protagonist Kliff gains eight new skills. The game comes from South Korea, and it sold more than 6 million copies between its release in March 2026 and June of the same year.
