Defeat 50 enemies in 10 minutes or less. Four players each pick a warrior from the original series as their master, sometimes take on that master’s form, and use their special moves against the horde. That is what the online four-player co-op PvE missions in DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 look like. 4Gamer.net and Game*Spark described them in hands-on reports published on October 21 and 22. The game launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
You control a character you create and join a team called the Great Saiyan Squad. The story is set in AGE 1000, a future era 200 years after the era of the original DRAGON BALL, and new characters supervised by Akira Toriyama also appear.

You can pick your master from 130 or more warriors, and building a bond with each one makes your character stronger. In battle, you borrow your master’s power in several ways. Soul Switch turns you into your master for a limited time, giving you access to their moves, including special moves. Call in a warrior with Soul Assist and you get team buffs and attack support while your own character keeps moving. You can also adopt your master’s running style and attack animations, though a master who doesn’t fight, like Bulma, has none to borrow.
According to the two reports, the hands-on offered three co-op missions: defeating 50 enemies within 10 minutes, defending two communication devices from waves of enemies, and getting through an enemy base to reach the boss. There are multiple difficulty levels.
Your choice of master, and when you Soul Switch into them, should change how the same four-player team fights.
Skills and special moves run on cooldowns, and abilities on gear roll randomly and can be rerolled.
The story is single-player and runs about 20 to 30 hours, roughly twice as long as the previous game’s. Online play supports up to 8 players, and there are 4-vs-4 and 1-vs-1 battles too.
Producer Masayuki Hirano says the team focused on the future era of AGE 1000 and built the game around a new DRAGON BALL experience. The theme, he says, is fighting beside a master or pushing your own strength to its limit. He adds that six-player play isn’t planned at the moment, and that keys can be remapped but there is no simplified control scheme for now.
