MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM BATTLE OPERATION 3 is a free-to-play online team battler with some paid content, played team against team. It’s coming to PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5, with crossplay. The official site lists 1 to 18 players. No release date has been announced, but the Steam store page is already live.

Mobile suits from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED are in from launch, mass-produced units included. Two or three more series are planned for the first year of service. The reveal came in October, during a livestream celebrating 40 years of Gundam games, along with an information-reveal trailer.

You play as part of a team. Each mobile suit has its own weapons and skills, which you compare when building a lineup. Every mobile suit comes with an SP Skill that enhances its distinctive traits. The official site pitches SP Skills as a way to turn the tide of battle. A combo-assist feature is also included.

Infantry and mobile suits

You don’t fight only in mobile suits. You also take the field as infantry, planting bombs on bases and calling in support fire. There’s also a Base Camp, a social hub for meeting other players.

SP Skills change how a team gets built, and infantry add the job of hitting bases on foot. That should give each player more distinct roles to fill.

Bandai Namco Forge Digitals is developing the game, and Bandai Namco Entertainment is publishing it. The previous game, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM BATTLE OPERATION 2, is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam).
