SQUARE ENIX has announced that FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION will launch on April 8, 2027.

The announcement came during PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, which aired at 10:00 p.m. Japan time on September 3 (9:00 a.m. Eastern Time the same day). The game is confirmed for six platforms — PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Epic Games Store — and will launch simultaneously worldwide. The title is the conclusion to the Remake trilogy, following FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH, and brings Cloud and his companions’ story to its climax.

The broadcast included roughly ten minutes of gameplay footage. Players can board the airship “Highwind” early on and freely explore the planet; one scene shows a parachute descent. The chocobo companion “Piko” not only serves as a mount but also takes part in battle, growing alongside the party. Cid and Vincent join the roster of playable characters and can be switched to at any time during battle. The footage also showed that the character used for field exploration affects how the story unfolds afterward.

Battles combine intuitive real-time action with a command-based system for choosing skills and magic to suit the situation. Players fight while switching between party members and can freely combine Materia for attacks, healing, support, and Summons.

The new “FITS” system comes in four types: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. The FITS a character equips changes their role and abilities in battle. The four types are described as excelling at powerful elemental magic, a wide variety of attacks, defense and party-wide support, and coordinated attacks alongside Summons.

The card game “Queen’s Blood” is also getting new story content and systems. The game was first announced in June 2026, at which point series director Tetsuya Nomura reportedly explained that the title “Revelation” was meant to convey the idea of bringing the truth to light, and that the development theme was “resolve.”
