Hum a melody into the console’s microphone, and Link, on screen, plays it back on the ocarina. If you have a real ocarina on hand, you can play that instead. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on November 5, 2026.

Nintendo announced the release date during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct 9.8.2026, a roughly 30-minute broadcast streamed on September 8, 2026. The game is a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, and this version is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. The graphics have been completely redone, and the entire game now has full voice acting. The music has also been re-recorded with an orchestra.

The performance feature uses the microphone built into the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Link, in the game, plays along with whatever melody the player hums or plays on a real ocarina. A companion app for smart devices, ZELDA NOTES, is also available, letting players check their achievements and share ocarina melodies they’ve created with other players.

During the broadcast, producer Eiji Aonuma demonstrated the game on actual hardware. Players can now freely rotate the camera. Jumping is no longer restricted to fixed spots, and a dash move and underwater diving have been added. The game now features a real-time day-night cycle. The visuals in areas such as the inside of the Great Deku Tree have reportedly been redesigned as well.

The game itself wasn’t the only 40th-anniversary announcement. Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures are coming in 2027. A 40th-anniversary-themed Nintendo Switch 2 console, Pro Controller, and carrying case go on sale October 29, 2026. An orchestra concert tour begins January 23, 2027, with stops at five venues in Japan and in three regions outside Japan. The live-action film is scheduled for release on April 30, 2027.
