Konami Digital Entertainment announced the Japanese voice cast for SILENT HILL: Townfall, launching September 24, during its official broadcast “KONAMI PRESS START 2026.09.04” on September 4, 2026. Hiroki Yasumoto voices protagonist Simon Ordell, Kaida Yuhko voices Zoe, and Akio Otsuka voices Richard. Japanese audio will be added through an update released on launch day. The game is developed by Screen Burn and published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive; it’s a first-person survival horror title set in the fog-shrouded town of St. Amelia. It’s coming to PC and PlayStation 5.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches; PlayStation 5 version holds an 86 Metascore

On September 4, 2026, Capcom released Onimusha: Way of the Sword—the series’ first entirely new entry in about 20 years—for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game was originally set for a September 25 release, but Capcom announced on July 2 that it would move the date up by three weeks. Aggregated Metascores stand at 86 (from 89 reviews) for the PlayStation 5 version, 89 (from 10 reviews) for Nintendo Switch 2, 83 (from 10 reviews) for Xbox Series X, and 82 (from 22 reviews) for PC.

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE demo launches; Sephiroth’s appearance also announced

On September 4, 2026, SQUARE ENIX released a PlayStation 5 demo for FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE ahead of the game’s October 22 launch. The demo lets players complete the entire first chapter of the main story. At the same time, footage shown during State of Play revealed that Sephiroth from the FINAL FANTASY VII series will appear in the game. Players can challenge Sephiroth, who appears somewhere in the world, and defeating him grants a special reward. The game is the series’ first HD-2D title, built around the concept of “what if FINAL FANTASY had kept evolving as pixel art.”

The discontinued Uta Macross: Smartphone De Culture returns as the offline title UTA MACROSS; xeen, the developer of the original service, is also returning

On September 3, 2026, AUGUST Inc. announced a project to revive the rhythm game Uta Macross: Smartphone De Culture, which ended service in June 2022, as UTA MACROSS, a new offline title sold as a one-time purchase. Development remains with xeen, which also worked on the original online version, and the producer is AUGUST Inc. president Kei Hirono. The base package will include 50 songs and more than 1000 four-star-or-higher plates, and the “gacha” system used to increase plate rarity will reportedly be free to use without limits. The game is planned for release around spring 2027 on PC (via Steam), iOS, and Android. Crowdfunding begins September 10.

Cygames launches new brand CygamesEdge; first title Where the Seeds Fall arrives November 5

On September 4, 2026, Cygames, Inc. announced the launch of CygamesEdge, a new brand dedicated to experimental game experiences made by small, focused teams, as well as its first title, Where the Seeds Fall. It’s an action-adventure in which players descend through a crumbling world toward the surface, with gameplay centered on assessing footholds and reading the wind to find safe routes down. The main story takes about three hours on a first playthrough, and the postgame content includes high-difficulty maps and time-attack challenges. The game launches November 5 for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
