The expansion to March 2024’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 takes the Arisen (the player-created protagonist) to Norgan, a northern land buried in deep snow. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, which packages the base game with the expansion, launches October 9 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. On PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, the expansion is also sold on its own as DLC. This is the Switch 2 version’s debut, and it includes both the base game and the expansion.

In Norgan, you collect relics. Monsters drop them, and more are hidden across the region. Appraise one at the Norgandian Settlement to reveal its true potential as powerful gear. Acquiring specific gear can also unlock unique skills. Relic Expedition Cycles let you take on challenges and earn rewards as often as you like.
Rare equipment once held by past Arisens lies dormant deep in newly uncovered dungeons, and a character known as the Pathfinder has trials waiting. The Character Creator gets new hairstyles and tattoos.
Norgan was once a prosperous region of the kingdom of Vermund, abandoned for reasons unknown. Deep within it, a cursed dragon’s heart begins to beat again, and, as if in answer, another Arisen appears.
How quickly do you progress? Starting from the beginning on Switch 2, 4Gamer.net’s play report hit level 20 on normal difficulty after about 7 hours. Clearing the first of the Lost Rites, dungeons meant for level 20 and up, brought the total to about 9 hours. Going in blind would take longer, the report notes. On Switch 2, you can play in TV or handheld mode.

Relics whose true power stays hidden until appraisal, plus Relic Expedition Cycles that can be run again and again, look set to give players a reason to keep heading back to snowy Norgan.
