Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is getting dual-type cards for the first time. Dual Fusion, a new expansion, launches on iOS and Android at 6 p.m. Pacific time on October 28. The Pokémon Company announced it on October 20.
It’s a smartphone card game where you open packs, collect cards, build decks, and battle one-on-one. The official announcement names two dual-type cards: Mega Mewtwo X ex, a Psychic/Fighting-type card, and Mega Greninja ex, a Water/Darkness-type card.
You can try both in Rental Decks, which let you borrow a deck to play. There are six, including a Mega Mewtwo X ex deck and a Mega Greninja ex deck. They can be used from launch until 5:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on December 15.
Three Elite Decks will arrive as gifts, each built around Mega Rayquaza ex, Dragonair, or Gouging Fire. Missions also reward the Sabrina and Red Trainer cards.
Japanese coverage from Famitsu and Dengeki Online lists new features too. You can browse popular decks and friends’ decks and copy them as is. Cards you don’t own show in gray. After a battle, you can check your opponent’s deck, and the gift and trade screens show which cards the other player is still missing and which ones they want.
A record of your battles will be kept as well. In private battles, you can set the rules by deck type, expansion, and rarity. A special single-card pack that guarantees a ★ card will also be added. Opening it takes its own separate pack power, which refills once a week.
The Second Anniversary Celebration Campaign runs from October 29 to December 14, with tickets that can be exchanged for packs guaranteeing a ★★ card. Ranked Match Season C1 runs from November 30 to December 14.
Seeing your opponent’s deck after a match should make it easier to take something from a loss into your next build.
