You see which two Megami your opponent picks, then you build your deck. The competitive card game Sakura Arms Radiant Duels launches in early access on Steam on November 29. It runs on Windows and macOS, and a demo is also playable on Steam. The game builds on Sakura Arms, a board game that tabletop game publisher BakaFire Party released in 2016.
Before a match, each player picks two Megami (this game’s deity characters) and channels their power. Every Megami has 11 unique cards, so picking two gives you a pool of 22 cards. After you see your opponent’s pair, you choose 7 standard cards and 3 special cards from those 22 for a deck of 10. The other 12 stay out of that match’s deck.

Sakura Crystals, petal-shaped tokens, are an important resource that drives the match. The distance between you and your opponent, your attacks, and your defense all depend on how you spend and manage these crystals.
Early access offers CPU matches, single-player battle challenges and online play. For learning the rules, there’s an interactive tutorial and practice against the AI. Ranked matches are listed as a possible future addition, and the developers expect early access to last about a year.
Because you pick your 10 cards only after seeing your opponent’s two Megami, the match likely begins at deck building, before anyone plays a card.
The game’s predecessor was an open-source battle tool built for the community. In 2024 the developers obtained a commercial license, and the project became an officially sanctioned derivative work supervised by BakaFire Party.
