Producer Motoi Okamoto has said he feels SILENT HILL: Townfall could turn out to be a masterpiece. The comment comes from an interview Famitsu conducted with him at gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, published ahead of the game’s release.
The game launches September 24, 2026. It’s coming to PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam / Epic Games Store), with PlayStation 5 as the only console platform available at launch. The Deluxe Edition includes early access starting September 22.
SILENT HILL: Townfall is a first-person psychological horror game. Its protagonist, Simon Ordell, washes ashore on the fog-covered island of St. Amelia. He walks through the island’s empty town, gathering clues and reading information on a handheld device called the CRTV as he works to unravel its mysteries. When he runs into enemies, he can choose to hide and wait them out or stand and fight.
The English voice cast includes Jovan Adepo as Simon, Kezia Burrows as Zoe, and Terry O’Quinn as Richard. The game is published jointly by Konami Digital Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive.
Development is handled by Screen Burn Interactive, a studio based in Scotland. Okamoto praised the studio for the way it ties puzzles to the story, the way it structures its narrative, and its sense for leaving ambiguity in the story. He has also described the game as a socially conscious work, with its story framed around the relationship between individuals and corporations, or between individuals and society.
Jon McKellan, who serves as both director and writer, has described Simon as quiet, reserved, and introspective, and said the game is designed so that his inner state is reflected in the world around him. According to McKellan, the line between reality and fiction is deliberately left unclear.
