SQUARE ENIX released the Nintendo Switch 2 version of DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition on September 24. The game itself is unchanged: the “Graphics” mode, which favors image quality, runs at 1440p/30fps, and the “Performance” mode, which favors frame rate, runs at 1080p/60fps. Save data is not compatible with the Nintendo Switch version, and the Nintendo Switch 2 version cannot be launched on Nintendo Switch.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies VR Announced for Meta Quest, Due in 2027
AMATA K.K. announced Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies VR on September 24, under license from Capcom. It is due in 2027 for Meta Quest 3 / 3S / 2 / Pro and for Meta VR Glasses. The game supports hand tracking: you pinch a piece of evidence between your fingers and thrust it forward in court. In the investigation sections you examine the evidence at the scene with your own hands, and in the courtroom sections you look for contradictions between testimony and evidence. The “Mood Matrix,” which reads the emotions of witnesses, also returns in a form built for VR. The estimated playtime is 15 hours or more.

A Free Demo for DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered Is Now Out
Koei Tecmo Games released a free demo on September 24 for DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered, which launches on October 1. It is available on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The demo covers the special scenario “Battle of Hulao Gate,” where you fight on the side of the coalition forces led by Yuan Shao against Dong Zhuo’s army. Six characters are playable: Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, Xiahou Dun, Zhen Ji, Zhou Yu and Sun Shangxiang. The full version is set to add two-player online co-op in a post-launch update.

SHATTERHAND, a 1991 NES Game, Returns on Nintendo Switch
On September 24, City Connection brought SHATTERHAND—a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) action game that Jaleco released in 1991—to Nintendo Switch as JALECOlle Famicom Ver. SHATTERHAND. The main character works for the police and, after losing both hands, straps on cybernetic hands to smash through Metal Command in 2030 with fists. Eight different Satellite Robots provide backup. This re-release adds “Rewind” and “Quick Save/Load,” along with 30 achievements.

Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow, Arc System Works’ New RPG, Is Out
Arc System Works, the studio behind GUILTY GEAR, released Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow on September 24 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). The RPG was co-developed with UnitePlus. It is a “Tactical Counter Timeline RPG”: enemy attacks are categorized as red, blue or yellow, and you counter them using skills of the same color. During battle you can slow the flow of time at any point and think through your next move. The game is set in Tokyo following a disaster called the “World Collapse,” with Anomalies now running rampant there.
