The floating island you fight on gets smaller every turn, crumbling away behind you. Everbrink, a roguelike deckbuilder, plays all four parts of 4X through cards: explore, expand, exploit and exterminate. Indie studio Impachi Inc. has announced it. Early access starts on Steam in 2027 for Windows and macOS. It supports English and is single-player, a one-time purchase with no in-game purchases. A demo is said to be in the works.

You choose a leader, such as the paladin Alethea. Summoning elves or Cerberus, building structures and casting spells all happen through cards. Tiles like forests and seas yield resources in four colors, and holding a tile expands your territory. You attack adjacent enemies and cut down skeletons and zombies.

The island crumbles away behind you, while out front you extend the area you control to push the front line forward. Destroying an enemy base triggers the Join, which connects a new island to yours and makes yours bigger. You also build up your deck during battle through Events on the island, such as a Trader or an Altar.
Each card you play doubles as a move in the land grab. With the ground beneath you crumbling every turn, it looks like you will have to decide, again and again, where to expand and which base to hit first before the island shrinks any further.
Impachi (@Impachi_games) is reportedly an indie studio based in Tokyo and founded in January 2026. Director Daisuke Taka’s credits are said to include production and design on HARVESTELLA and production and direction on Another Eden. Taka commented that, as someone who has dearly loved 4X and strategy games, he is truly happy to be delivering a game in this genre.
